Warmaster Kislev Army - 15mm scale

Cavalry, Characters and Bears

Kislev’s armies are built around its cavalry. With its Infantry playing a supporting role. This reflects Kislev’s cultural roots in horse-riding nomadism and the need for rapid response forces to defend against Chaos incursions

In the Motherlands time of need the Tzarina can call on perhaps the finest light horse and shock cavalry in the old world.

Winged Lancers

Every ethnically Gospodar settlement in Kislev annually raises a rota (squadron) of Winged Lancers. Each spring, eager young men muster alongside veterans and don armour at their rotamaster's command. To the sound of weeping womenfolk, they ride, their winged banners fluttering behind them. Until their return, they are known as the "Riders of the Dead," for they are mourned as if already deceased.

An army of Kislev will inevitably ride with a large core of winged lancers as its shock cavalry. The rotas of winged lancers bear the heaviest responsibility as they are depended on to deal the killing blow in the name of the Motherland; the battle won or lost balanced on whether they find the throat of opposing armies deployment and ruthlessly crash through it.

The Ice Court

The Ice Court is Kislev's political and magical institution, led by Tzarina Katarin, which trains female sorcerers (Ice Witches) and their elite protectors (Red Guard). It functions as a magical academy and a political body focused on the Motherlands defense

The Bears

For the Kislevites, the bear symbolises not only strength but also authority and nobility. For a Kislevite, to be called a bear is a great honour. Such an honour is this monkier that only three Tzars of Kislev have ever been deemed worthy of the title.

The Great Bears of Kislev are truly a sight to behold, larger and more powerful looking than other bears from around the Old World. These great creatures are ridden to war by the noble Sons of Ursa, the greatest warriors of the Kislevite army.

Ungol Horse Archers and Cossacks

Within the Kislevite military hierarchy, these mounted warriors are auxiliaries drafted in from the savage northern tribes of Kislev. They are fierce warriors, but lack the discipline of the regular army. They delight in running rings around their opponents, peppering them with arrows and dodging away before the enemy can retaliate. What they lack in proper wargear and numbers, they make up for greatly in speed and their mastery as archers.
